If you’ve ever worked with a
career coach or counselor, you’re no stranger to such assessment
tools as Meyers-Briggs, Strong-Campbell and the Enneagram. As accurate
as they are, though, they still don’t answer the lawyer’s
eternal question – what can I do with my law degree? Recently,
Denver lawyer and career consultant Angelique Electra developed a unique
assessment instrument. She calls it The JurisDoctor Profiles Assessment.
It theorizes that there are 7 lawyer types, each with its motivation,

- The Counselor/Teacher – Attracting,
empowering, and wise. An ability to teach, empower, mentor, and
understand others with
great perception; an intuitive and synthesizing mind.
- The Rainmaker/Innovator – Promoting,
versatile, creative, mentally astute. An ability to act, enroll
others with a high degree
of creative, strategic ideas.
- The Negotiator/Diplomat – Imaginative
and adept at promoting rapport and agreement. An ability to move
people toward agreement
and create alliances.
- The Problem Solver/Expert – Precise
with a passion for progressive knowledge; an ability to arrive
at solutions through
focused thinking and analytical experimentation.
- The Activist/Moralist – Steadfastly
and ardently focused. An ability to devote self to a great purpose
or cause, and live and
work according to your highest ideals, beliefs, and vision.
- The Manager/Reformer – Organized and
skillful. An ability to demonstrate a high degree of organizational
and managerial prowess
by means of skillful coordination, practical efficiency and diplomacy.
