Book Proposal Guidelines

 
Thank you for your interest in writing for DecisionBooks®. The information here should help you determine whether your book idea is a good fit with our publishing program.

What We Publish


DecisionBooks® publishes career resources for a life in the law. Our books are exclusively designed for one audience – the legal profession. They’re intended as practical, useful guides that help lawyers and law students make critical decisions about aspects of their work, career, or family life. At this time, we do not publish fiction, first-person accounts, biographies or other subjective material.

Book Proposals

If you wish to submit a book proposal, please include the following:

  • A cover letter describing the book and explaining how it fits into our publishing program.
  • A summary of your qualifications as author.
  • A chapter-by-chapter outline of the entire book, and samples from four of the book’s chapters.
  • A description of the book’s demographic market, and why readers would buy this book.
  • A list of competing titles, and what would distinguish your book from the others.

We will review your proposal and respond within three weeks of our decision. If you want your proposal returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. No phone calls please. Also, we do not accept proposals by email or fax.
